Malcolm Shaw signs two-year contract with Atlético Ottawa


Canadian striker Malcolm Shaw has penned a two-year deal with Atlético Ottawa that includes and option to extend until 2024.


With 10 goals in 28 appearance last season there was much speculation as to where Shaw would be playing his football in 2022, and although he had offers, decided to stay in the Capital.


"I want to give myself the best shot of succeeding," Shaw told CCSG. "In Ottawa I'm valued as a player, it has been expressed by the club and as a player that's not something that is easy to come by.


"I feel respected here and if I can continue to improve I'm confident I can bring success."

The 26-year old said it was a "great feeling" to sign the new deal in Ottawa with the support he received in the capital city being "big incentive to stay."


"Atlético Ottawa fans are exceptional," he said. "Even in a challenging year the fans surpassed all expectations we had, from the first to the final whistle.


"The support has been unmatched and it motivates me to give my best when I step on the pitch. It's great to be exposed to that."


Shaw won the CCSG Golden Scarf Award in 2021 is one of seven Atlético Ottawa players returning for the upcoming season.
